R3M (Primitive Science, Apex, Dystopia, InneractiveCrew)

Adored by many, loathed by few, R3M aka “REM” has been a fixture in the San Francisco Bay area late night music scene since the early nineties. R3M thanks his parents for contributing to his musical palate and introduction to vinyl records at an early age, starting with blues, jazz, rock and funk. Eventually, his own personal taste ventured off into punk, new wave and finally producing hip-hop--his "first true love".

R3M’s first acquaintance with drum & bass was courtesy of a college friend who brought back some 'jungle' records after visiting family in the U.K. Instantly hooked on this futuristic sound, R3M sought out venues that catered to the genre. He attended events thrown by B.A.S.S. Kru, Phunkateck, Eklektic and the Bay Area rave scene. Soon after being baptized into the local underground community, R3M bought turntables and a mixer and started feverishly practicing mixing in his bedroom.

With 12 years of DJing under his belt, along with a fierce arsenal of diverse musical skill at his fingertips, R3M has performed at local drum & bass venues throughout the San Francisco Bay area, as well as out of state. Since 2000, he has been a part of Inneractive Entertainment, a production/mobile DJ crew that has thrown multi-genre events in San Francisco and the East Bay. Currently, R3M is an 8 year veteran of Primitive Science and promotes Oakland’s premiere Drum & Bass monthly “Dystopia” every 4th Friday of the month at Lounge 3411.

Be prepared to move on the dance floor when R3M hits the decks.



Shadow Spirit (Shelter / Planet Funk)

Shadow Spirit has been involved in Drum and Bass for just over a decade revolving between the role street promoter, event promoter, DJ and apiring producer. Guest appearances have included gigs at Bassrush, LA : Deep, SD : Liquid, SD : WMC, Miami : Steel Cage, Tampa and various radio / webcast appearaces over the years.

Shadow Spirit has set roots down in the Bay and was added to the Shelter SF lineup just recently. He aims to bring well rounded sets that has a little something for everyone on the dancefloor. After 10 years in the philosophy is to keep growing and to mesh the new, fresh sounds with the classics for your enjoyment.
